Answers to the questions people actually ask, with no ask attached to them.
As of August 2026, the foundation is funded entirely by its founder. These answers exist because the foundation would rather be straightforwardly informative than coy.
The basics
Is a gift to Sevadar Foundation tax deductible?
Yes. The IRS determination letter states that donors can deduct contributions under IRC Section 170. Sevadar Foundation Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, EIN 93-2840861. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. What you can actually deduct depends on your own circumstances, and the foundation does not give tax advice. What identifiers do I need for my records?
Legal name Sevadar Foundation Inc., EIN 93-2840861, a 501(c)(3) public charity classified under Section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi), exemption effective August 10, 2023. Verify it yourself. Read more: What seva asks of an organization.
How do I actually give, if there is no button?
You call (314) 852-5500 or use the contact form, and someone talks with you about what you have in mind. If it ends in a gift, the foundation is set up to receive it properly and issue a proper acknowledgment. Read more: A nonprofit with no donate button.
Kinds of gift
Can I restrict a gift to one program?
Ask before you give rather than after. A restriction the foundation cannot honor creates an obligation it has to hold rather than use, and that helps nobody. If a restriction cannot be used as written, we will say so before the money moves. Read more: Restricted gifts, and why we ask first.
Do you accept in-kind gifts?
Sometimes, and the honest answer is that in-kind gifts are frequently more expensive to accept than they are worth — storage, transport, disposal, and the staff time to manage all three. Ask first, describe what it is, and expect a real answer rather than an automatic yes. Contact. Read more: Service is not the same as volunteering.
Can I leave a bequest?
The determination letter states the organization is qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under Sections 2055, 2106 and 2522. Work with your own attorney, and use the legal name and EIN exactly as published on the status page. Read more: One foundation, three programs.
Is a gift to Sevadar Foundation a gift to Valor Villages?
No. Valor Villages Inc. is a separate 501(c)(3) with EIN 93-2266407. Different organization, different books, different receipt. The distinction in full. Read more: One foundation, three programs.
What a gift does not buy
Does giving get me information about a facility or a patient?
No, and this is not discretionary. CareGuard’s patient safety work product is protected by federal statute and Valor Medica holds protected health information. Independence and boundaries. Read more: What a Patient Safety Organization actually does.
Does giving influence what CareGuard reviews or finds?
No. If it did, the program would be worth nothing to anyone, including the facilities that engage it. Read more: What a Patient Safety Organization actually does.
Will I be added to a mailing list and asked again?
There is no appeals program to add you to. As of August 2026, the foundation is funded entirely by its founder. Read more: A nonprofit with no donate button.
