The foundation exists to hold four things that would otherwise be much harder to build: a federally listed Patient Safety Organization, a medical program for people who are not reachable by an ordinary clinic, an opioid-safety program, and a deprescribing framework for older adults carrying more medication than they still benefit from. Each one needs a durable, accountable, non-commercial home. That is what a foundation is for.
