Why the confusion happens
Because the two work together and the names rhyme. Valor Medica is Sevadar Foundation’s program; it is described as the medical arm of Valor Villages; and one person holds a role in both structures. Every one of those statements is true, and together they are easy to compress into a false one.
The compression to avoid: Dr. Padda is Chief Medical Officer of Valor Villages Inc.. He is not the chief medical officer of Valor Medica, and no title for him at Valor Medica has been established. Writing “CMO of Valor Medica” merges two organizations that are legally distinct.
Three consequences that actually matter
- A gift to one is not a gift to the other. Different EINs, different receipts, different books. If you intend to support Valor Villages, give to Valor Villages.
- Neither is liable for the other. Separate corporations, separate obligations.
- Neither speaks for the other. Nothing on sevadar.org is a statement by Valor Villages, and nothing Valor Villages publishes binds this foundation.
What they actually share
A working relationship and a population. Valor Villages houses people; Valor Medica provides the clinical care that makes a housing placement hold. Those are complementary functions performed by two organizations that chose to cooperate, which is a normal and good thing and is not a merger.
